We agree. Lots.

That said, I do wonder when Apple will eventually be forced to make core improvements. They really don't like updating the technology in their core until they absolutely absolutely have to. See OS9->OS X.

Are we going to have to go through that level of technical stagnation before they ship new stuff?

I think the issue is being masked right now since iOS is new and shiny and arguably a future. What happens when it becomes dull? Will they need to buy a new OS?

I suppose one could argue that it was simply that Apple wasn't led by the right people in those dark times, but with the way they consistently delay and hold back from bringing the best technology to bear in core, "uninteresting" areas, I wonder how long they get away with it before it starts to hamper what their users are able to make their hardware do.

Also, given Jobs may not be around forever at this point, it is not absurd to think that Apple will coast past the useful life of some of its current technology and find themselves eventually constrained by their own technical limitations.

It will work until it doesn't.

Joe, I did the same thing, only I was waiting for my parents. My custodian had just moved to the US and was trying to scrape a living. He wanted to save money to bring his family here. Sappy huh?

Ahh, the real reason I'm posting is Geoff Voelker from CSE 125 would like to add you to his mailing list. Would you mind dropping him a line?

Allston is fun for a short period. I convinced a bunch of MIT grad students to move there for a year so we could party with the BU kids.

I would recommend --

Playing chess at Harvard square with the chess bums
Attend some talks at MIT CSAIL
2am pastry run to Bova's bakery in the North End (Little Italy)
Japanese food at the Porter Square Exchange (lots of little places)
Bowling at Lanes & Games.
Walking through Beacon Hill at night, where John Kerry lives.
Rollerblading on the esplanade (bike path around the charles)
